MY TENNIS

LIVING ROOM!

I am back, live from the artificial “hotel bubble“ in downtown Vienna.

A little anniversary. I am in the main draw of Vienna for the tenth time, this year I am even the defending champion. I will never forget the emotions after my victory in 2019 – wonderful and unique. It was a moment of goosebumps! This trophy means a lot to me, so does Vienna.

As a child I cheered for Stefan Koubek and Juergen Melzer in the stands, as a teenager I beat Thomas Muster in the “duel of generations“. 6:2, 6:3 in October 2011 – my first victory on the ATP-tour in front of a sell-out crowd. It is unbelievable how fast time flies in my tennis living room!

There is one thing for sure: the Stadthalle is the venue of spectacular tennis this year. Stars, stars, stars – every single match will be sensational. This 500-tournament has never seen so many top players before, I will play Kei Nishikori in the first round. This tells it all.

The preparation for this tournament was diverse. I played a lot of tennis at my Dad´s new academy in Traiskirchen, in between I took care of some PR appointments. This was quite odd: a photographer for the L’Équipe came to Austria just for a photo shooting for the title page, the photo session in Traiskirchen was over after only 15 minutes. A long trip for such a short appointment. Respect!

By the way photos. I have a special picture with Novak Djokovic. The current number one in the world had my prize money check from Belgrade in his baggage, I will donate the entire money to the St. Anna Children’s Hospital and good friend of mine.

All the best!

Yours,
