This is my second blog entry for my new homepage – and I am really happy that I can write it in New York.

First of all thank you very much! The fans really like my new “internet home“, thousands of clicks in the first couple of days, a lot of positive feedback and emails. It’s a lot of fun.

I also enjoyed the first games at the US Open. Beating Jaume Munar, Sumit Nagal and Marin Cilic made me advance to the round of 16. I have come so far at the US Open for the fifth time and naturally the relief is tremendous!

On Monday I’m playing the Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime for the first time. He is young and talented, the 20 year-old will have a great future. However, for Felix it is the first time that he has come so far at a Major tournament, I have done so for the 13th time. For him it is something new, I should have way more experience. One thing is for sure: I have not reached my peak performance in New York yet, I definitely need to play better.

So far I have been able to improve my game from match to match at Grand Slams, the best example in my mind are the Australian Open in 2020. If I manage to play better against Felix, my run in New York will be continued.

I have settled in at this Grand Slam, I can feel more and more adrenaline and self-confidence. That’s the mix I need. Please keep your fingers crossed for me!
